Who are we?

Our podcast, The 5 Minute Library, where we aim to foster a reading culture among Millenials and Gen Z is up on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, JioSaavn, Audible and Google Podcasts. We have grown our listener base to over 50 countries in 24 months of launching The 5 Minute Library.

The genres we have covered include historical fiction, self-help, business, true crime, psychological thrillers, and autobiography. We also have a series called the Author’s own series, in which we speak directly to the authors of the books about their writing process and exclusive insights into their books and subject matters.

Our mission for The 5 Minute Library podcast is to find listeners stories that pair perfectly with their favourite coffee, memories that tug at their heartstrings, characters that grow with them, journeys that help them through yours, and ultimately; books that read you as much as you read them.

We wanted a space where we could explore ourselves and our ideas freely, and also enable others in our mind-space to escape, even momentarily, from the psychological stress we’re all facing. Banking on our love for books and the ability to talk endlessly, we decided to pursue the one belief that still held true; that there’s a perfect book out there for each one to get lost in, and find themselves in. After all, we had grown up drawing from Jo’s sense of independence, Hermione’s love for literature, and the Famous Five’s thirst for adventure. We came up with the idea of launching our own podcast to foster a reading culture among Millennials and Gen Z by helping them pick their next read, through byte-sized reviews.

Meet the Hosts

Ira Gopal and Piyushi Sharma are communication and marketing professionals from India that started The 5 Minute Library podcast amidst a nationwide lockdown to help people find solace in books during crises.

Piyushi Sharma

Communications Professional & Public Speaker

Piyushi Sharma is a communications professional, currently working with a Big 4 firm. She started working at the age of 15 in various communication roles. With experience in journalism, public speaking, ATL and BTL, brand strategy and management, soft-skill training, event management and a mix of B2B and B2C marketing, she drives her corporate communications career along with her business, The 5 Minute Library.

She is a skilled public speaker with expertise in managing a diverse career and communication skills, having delivered keynote speeches and presentations at numerous conferences, events, and industry forums. She is known for her ability to engage audiences with her dynamic and charismatic style and to deliver complex messages in a clear, concise, and compelling way.

She is passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of communications professionals and has served as a mentor to many students across industries.

Her hobbies include reading, playing tennis and hunting for the next best self-development tool.

Ira Gopal

Marketing Professional & Travel Creator

Ira is a marketing professional and content creator from Pune, India. To fuel her passion for travel, Ira works as a community manager with hostels around India. With experience in content writing, digital marketing, and 360-degree campaign creation, she aims to one day work as a Chief Strategy Officer in a place set in the mountains.

Her hobbies include playing football, travel writing, and buying too many books she takes too long to read.
